Using UpBastion
These terms govern use of UpBastion's public website and monitoring application. Read them before creating an account or adding a monitor. For questions or a complaint about the service, email [email protected] or use contact.
By using account-based monitoring, you agree to these terms. If you act for an organization, you must have authority to use the service and monitor its endpoints on that organization's behalf. Use the service only where you are legally able to accept these terms.
The service provided
UpBastion checks public HTTP and HTTPS URLs from one server, records observations and displays them in an account dashboard. The current limit is 10 monitors per account, including paused monitors. Normal checks are due five minutes after the previous result; a first failure schedules confirmation after 30 seconds. A confirmed second failure opens an incident and queues an email.
Only final HTTP 2xx responses count as success. The worker has a 15-second total check deadline and follows at most five redirects. It does not render pages, execute JavaScript, test response contents or carry out authenticated user journeys. The documentation describes the current behavior and supported addresses.
UpBastion does not offer a guarantee of uninterrupted checking, delivery of every alert or a particular detection time. Queue load, request duration, worker availability and email systems affect timing. Checks are observations from one server and do not establish worldwide availability.
Your account and email address
Keep your account access secure and use an email address you control. Monitoring alerts require the account's verified primary email. An unverified or outdated address can prevent you from receiving notifications. Update the account information when it changes.
Do not share credentials in contact messages or monitored URLs. Notify us if you suspect unauthorized account use. Authentication uses Clerk; the account screens show the methods and controls available in the configured application. See account documentation.
Permission to monitor and acceptable use
Add only endpoints you own or have permission to monitor. You are responsible for whether the monitoring requests are authorized and appropriate for the target. Do not use the service to access a private network, bypass authentication, exploit a system, scan unauthorized targets or cause traffic intended to disrupt another service.
Do not attempt to evade URL restrictions, account limits, contact form limits or access controls. Do not place secrets, unlawful material or unrelated personal information in monitor names, URLs or support messages. Do not interfere with other accounts, falsify service messages or use account access that was not granted to you.
Monitoring uses GET requests. Configure your endpoint so that a recurring GET does not trigger unwanted transactions or destructive work. The application cannot assess every side effect your server attaches to the request.
Observations, incidents and alerts
An up result means the worker received an accepted HTTP response for that observation. A page can return a successful code while its content or a later browser action fails. An outage between checks can be missed. Confirmed incident timestamps record sampled failures and recovery rather than an exact continuous measure.
Observed uptime excludes paused time and gaps after observation intervals expire. It is not a service-level commitment. Read response times and uptime before using the percentage in a report or contractual calculation.
Emails are delivered through a queue with retries. SMTP acceptance does not guarantee inbox delivery, and a retry after an interrupted process can create a duplicate. Keep other procedures appropriate to the consequence of an outage; the service should not be the only control for a safety-critical or emergency function.
Data, pausing and deletion
You retain your rights in the information you submit. You permit UpBastion and its service providers to process that information as necessary to provide checking, storage, display and communications described in the privacy policy.
Pausing stops scheduled checks and closes an open incident without a recovery email. Resuming schedules a fresh observation. Changing a URL retains historical records but resets the state. Deleting a monitor removes its active application records and has no application undo.
Check results are subject to 30-day retention with daily cleanup. Closed incidents and completed or permanently failed mail queue records are also subject to the retention rules described in the privacy policy. Keep your own incident evidence when you need a longer record.
Service problems and misuse
Report a problem with the relevant URL, approximate time, timezone and visible error through contact. Do not send confidential credentials. The current service does not publish a guaranteed support response time or a staffed emergency hotline.
We may restrict use that violates these terms, interferes with the service or creates a security or legal problem. Where appropriate, we can ask for information to investigate the activity. These terms do not promise that a particular enforcement step or notice period applies in every circumstance.
Availability, responsibility and applicable rights
The service can be interrupted for faults, maintenance or changes. You remain responsible for operating your own website, restoring it after a failure and deciding which monitoring and response procedures your situation requires. UpBastion does not repair a monitored endpoint or renew its certificate.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without a promise that every observation is complete, every fault will be detected or every message will arrive. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or removes mandatory consumer or data-protection rights. There is no promised service-level agreement, uptime credit or compensation schedule in the current service.
We do not claim that a user loses statutory rights by creating an account. Applicable mandatory law governs rights that these terms cannot vary. If a provision cannot be enforced, that does not by itself invalidate the remaining terms.
Content and changes
UpBastion's name, visual identity, website and documentation are provided for use with the service. Do not present yourself as UpBastion or imply that we endorse your own monitoring report. Third-party links are supplied as references; their operators control those sites and their terms.
We will update these terms when the described service or its rules change. The published update date identifies this version. Read the privacy policy, cookie policy and documentation alongside these terms. Contact [email protected] when a change or a service issue requires clarification.
